How Much Does Therapy Cost?

Therapy costs may vary depending on whether you see a clinical or registered psychologist. All psychologists require high standards of education and training as well as general registration within Australia. However, clinical psychologists must study for an additional two years and are subsequently higher priced due to their extensive clinical experience. Furthermore, costs vary across the field depending on therapy modalities offered and independent expertise. Due to the various factors involved, prices at Pynk Health may range anywhere from $180 to $230, depending on the individual psychologist.

Regardless of the psychologist you choose to see, Pynk Health provides financial support through Medicare. Medicare offers eligible recipients access to rebates for their first 20 psychological sessions per calendar year (as of December 11th 2021). At Pynk Health these rebates range from $88.25 to $129.55 per session, though this support may be higher depending on your Medicare Safety Net. This support can be accessed through a mental health treatment plan (MHTP) written and referred by your GP. Once forwarded to your preferred practitioner, you can begin to claim your sessions online or at your nearest Medicare location. You don’t need a referral to book an appointment with a psychologist, but you do need a mental health treatment plan referred by your GP to claim any rebates through Medicare.
