Psychologist Hobart

Online Psychologists for Women in Hobart

Living in Hobart or elsewhere in Tasmania can come with its own mix of pressures – work, study, family, financial stress, weather, distance and everything else life throws at you. When you’re trying to keep it all together while feeling anxious, flat, overwhelmed or just not like yourself, it can be hard to know where to turn.

Pynk Health is an online psychology clinic created specifically for women. Our all-female team of psychologists and counsellors provide secure Telehealth sessions via video and phone, supporting women in Hobart, Launceston, regional Tasmania and across the rest of Australia.

You don’t need to travel into the city or find a local clinic. You can speak with an experienced female psychologist from a private space at home, work or wherever you feel most comfortable.

Pynk Health Psychologists Supporting Women in Hobart

Pynk Health doesn’t currently have psychologists physically based in Hobart, but our Australia-wide team regularly supports Tasmanian women through online appointments. If you’ve been searching for the best female psychologist in Hobart and not finding the right fit locally, telehealth lets you work with a clinician who genuinely suits your needs, even if she’s located on the mainland. You can be matched with the psychologist who best fits your needs, personality and schedule – whether they’re based in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia or another state.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask a few questions about what you’re looking for and suggest one or more psychologists who are a good match – even if they’re not located in Tasmania, they’ll be experienced in supporting Australian women via Telehealth.

How Online Therapy Works in Hobart

All Pynk Health appointments are held via secure Telehealth, so if you live in Hobart or anywhere in Tasmania, you can see a psychologist without leaving your home community.

You can choose:

  • Online video sessions – similar to an in-person session, but using a secure video platform
  • Phone sessions – if you prefer to talk without having your camera on

To support women with busy or unpredictable lives, we also offer after-hours and some weekend appointments, depending on each psychologist’s diary. This can be particularly helpful if you:

  • Work full-time or do shift work
  • Have parenting or caring responsibilities during the day
  • Live outside central Hobart or in regional/remote areas with long travel times
  • Find it stressful, tiring or impractical to attend in-person appointments

You just need a private spot and a reliable phone or internet connection. Many women say online therapy feels easier to fit into their week and more comfortable than travelling to a clinic, especially in bad weather or when they’re exhausted.

What Our Psychologists Can Help Tasmanian Women With

You don’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable before asking for support. If something doesn’t feel right emotionally, mentally or in your relationships, talking to a psychologist can be a helpful first step.

Our psychologists support women living in Hobart and across Tasmania with concerns such as:

Depression and low mood

Feeling flat, empty or unmotivated can make even simple tasks feel overwhelming. Therapy can help you understand what’s contributing to your mood and find small, realistic steps forward.

Anxiety, worry and panic

Ongoing worry, racing thoughts, physical symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks can be exhausting. We’ll work with you to understand your anxiety and develop practical ways to manage it.

Stress and burnout

Workload, caring responsibilities, financial stress and other pressures can gradually build into burnout. We can help you recognise early warning signs, set boundaries and create a more sustainable pace.

Trauma and PTSD

Difficult or traumatic experiences from childhood or adulthood can affect your emotions, body, sleep and sense of safety. We offer a trauma-informed space where you can gently process what’s happened at a pace that feels safe.

Grief and loss

Grief can follow bereavement, relationship breakdowns, miscarriages, health changes, job loss and other major life events. We walk alongside you as you navigate your grief and adjust to life after loss.

Relationships and family issues

Romantic relationships, family dynamics, co-parenting, friendships and workplace relationships can all be complicated. Therapy can help you understand patterns, improve communication and get clearer on your needs and boundaries.

Body image and eating difficulties

Concerns about food, weight and appearance can quietly impact your mood, relationships and self-worth. We provide a non-judgemental space to explore these worries and work towards a kinder, more balanced relationship with food and your body.

Substance use and coping behaviours

If alcohol or other substances have become a main way of coping, we can support you to understand why and explore other ways to manage stress, pain or distress.

Perinatal and postnatal mental health

Fertility challenges, pregnancy, birth and the early years with a baby or young child can bring big emotional ups and downs. We support Tasmanian women through anxiety, low mood, identity changes and overwhelm in the perinatal period.

Perimenopause and menopause

Hormone changes can affect your mood, sleep, energy, body image and relationships. We can help you make sense of these shifts and develop tools to support your wellbeing during this life stage.

Neurodiversity, including ADHD and Autism (ASD)

Many women only start to question ADHD or autism later in life, often after years of masking or feeling out of step with others. We support you to explore your traits, build self-understanding and develop strategies that work with your brain, not against it.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Intrusive thoughts and compulsions can be frightening and time-consuming. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and gradually reduce the impact OCD has on your daily life.

ADHD and ASD Assessments for Women in Hobart

Pynk Health also offers:

ADHD assessments for women

Comprehensive Telehealth assessments, which may include interviews, questionnaires and collateral information, followed by a detailed report outlining your results and recommendations.

Autism (ASD) assessments for women

Thorough Telehealth assessments that take into account how autism often presents differently in women, along with a clear report and practical suggestions for support.

All ADHD and ASD assessments are completed online via secure video, so women in Hobart, Launceston and regional Tasmania can access assessment without travelling interstate.

Fees, Rebates and Referrals for Hobart Psychology Sessions

PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer bulk billing.

We know that cost is an important part of deciding whether to start therapy, so we aim to be as transparent as possible about fees and rebates.

For most standard therapy sessions, fees range from $225–$282 per appointment, depending on the clinician and type of session. If you have a referral and a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP or psychiatrist, your approximate out-of-pocket cost is usually around $140 per session once the Medicare rebate has been applied.

You may also be able to claim a rebate through your private health fund, depending on your cover and the fund’s rules. The rebate amount will vary between policies. Our admin team can help you understand your options and decide whether Medicare, private health, or a combination across different sessions is likely to be most suitable.

Appointments can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly or less often, depending on your needs, goals and budget. To support Tasmanian women with busy schedules, we also offer after-hours and some weekend appointments, subject to each psychologist’s availability. For current information on fees, rebates and available times, please contact us today.

Seeing a Psychologist if You Live in Hobart or Tasmania

Pynk Health doesn’t have a physical practice in Hobart, but that doesn’t mean you miss out on support.

If you live in Hobart, Glenorchy, Kingston, Launceston or elsewhere in Tasmania, you can:

  • Be matched with a psychologist from our Australia-wide team who has experience with the issues you want to work on, and
  • Choose session times that fit around your life, including after-hours or weekend options where available.

Some women like the idea of speaking with a psychologist in another state because it feels more private. Others are simply looking for someone whose style and experience feel right for them. Both are completely valid – the main thing is that you feel safe, heard and supported.

Because all sessions are held online via secure video or phone, you’re not limited by the small number of local clinics or long travel distances. You can work with a psychologist who suits you, even if they’re on the mainland.
