Life in Melbourne can be full and fast-paced – from work and study to family, relationships and social commitments. When you’re trying to keep all of that going while also managing anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma or big life changes, it can start to feel like too much.

How Online Therapy Works in Melbourne

All Pynk Health appointments are delivered online via secure Telehealth, so you can see a psychologist in Melbourne from wherever you feel most comfortable.

You can choose between:

  • Video sessions – using a secure, confidential online video platform
  • Phone sessions – if you prefer to speak to your psychologist without being on camera

Online psychology can be especially helpful if you:

  • Work long or irregular hours and find it hard to attend in-person appointments
  • Are caring for children or family members and can’t easily get away
  • Live further from central Melbourne or don’t want to travel into the city
  • Feel anxious or uncomfortable about going to a clinic in person

Many women find that Telehealth makes it easier to be honest and open because they can join sessions from a familiar, private space at home, at work or in their car.

What Our Melbourne Psychologists Can Help You With

You don’t need to reach a crisis point before speaking with a psychologist. If something doesn’t feel right emotionally, mentally or in your relationships, that’s reason enough to reach out.

Our Melbourne psychologists support women with a wide range of concerns, including:

Depression and low mood

Feeling flat, unmotivated or emotionally numb can make everyday life feel like a slog. Therapy can help you understand what’s contributing to your low mood and find small steps towards feeling more like yourself again.

Anxiety and constant worry

From persistent overthinking to panic attacks, anxiety can be exhausting. We’ll work with you to make sense of your anxiety, reduce its intensity and build coping strategies that fit your life in Melbourne.

Stress and burnout

Pressure from work, study, caring roles or finances can take a real toll over time. We can help you recognise signs of burnout, set boundaries and build a more sustainable way of living and working.

Trauma and PTSD

Difficult or traumatic experiences from the past can continue to affect your mood, body, sleep and sense of safety. We offer a trauma-informed space to gently process what’s happened and begin to rebuild your sense of control.

Grief and loss

Grief can follow bereavement, relationship breakdowns, health changes, job loss and other major life shifts. We walk alongside you as you navigate your grief, at whatever pace feels right.

Relationships and family challenges

Romantic partnerships, family dynamics, friendships and workplace relationships can all become sources of stress. Therapy can help you understand patterns, clarify your needs and strengthen boundaries and communication.

Body image and eating difficulties

Concerns about food, eating and body image can quietly influence many parts of your life. We provide non-judgemental support to help you build a more balanced and compassionate relationship with your body and food.

Substance use and coping behaviours

If alcohol or other substances have become your main way to cope, we can support you to understand what role they’re playing and explore other ways to manage stress, anxiety or emotional pain.

Perinatal and postnatal mental health

Fertility concerns, pregnancy, birth and early parenthood can bring up anxiety, low mood, identity changes and overwhelm. We support women in Melbourne through the emotional side of these experiences.

Perimenopause and menopause

Hormone changes can affect mood, sleep, energy, body image and relationships. We can help you make sense of what you’re going through and develop tools to navigate this life stage.

Neurodiversity, including ADHD and autism (ASD)

Many women start to wonder about ADHD or autism later in life, often after years of feeling “different” or misunderstood. We provide support to explore your traits, build self-understanding and create strategies that work with your brain, not against it.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviours can be distressing and time-consuming. Therapy can help you understand your OCD and gradually reduce its impact on your day-to-day life.

ADHD and ASD Assessments for Women in Melbourne

Pynk Health also offers:

ADHD assessments

Comprehensive Telehealth assessments that may include interviews, questionnaires and collateral information, followed by a detailed written report with results and recommendations.

Autism (ASD) assessments

Thorough Telehealth assessments that consider how autism often presents differently in women, along with a clear report and practical suggestions for support.

All ADHD and ASD assessments are conducted online via secure video, so women in Melbourne and across Victoria can complete the process without having to attend an in-person clinic.

Therapy Approaches Our Melbourne Psychologists Use

Our Melbourne psychologists draw on a range of evidence-based therapies, choosing and combining approaches to suit your goals, preferences and history. Depending on your needs, your psychologist may use:

Woman having a telehealth psychology session
Speaking with a Melbourne counsellor
Holding hands for support

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

To identify unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns and experiment with more helpful alternatives.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

To help you relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings while taking steps toward the life you’d like to live.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – Informed strategies

To support you with regulating strong emotions, managing crises and improving relationships.

Schema Therapy

To explore long-standing themes and beliefs that may be affecting your self-worth, choices and relationships.

Narrative Therapy

To help you step back from problems and view your story in new ways that highlight your strengths and values.

Mindfulness-based approaches

To build skills in grounding, self-awareness and staying present, especially when emotions feel intense.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Where appropriate, to assist in processing traumatic memories and reducing associated distress.

Your psychologist will discuss the options with you and check in regularly to make sure the approach still feels right as therapy progresses.

Fees, Rebates and Referrals for Melbourne Psychologists

PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer bulk billing.

We understand that cost is an important part of deciding whether to start or continue therapy, so we aim to be as clear as possible about fees and rebates.

For most standard therapy sessions, fees range from $225–$282 per appointment, depending on the clinician and the type of session. If you have a referral and a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP or psychiatrist, your approximate out-of-pocket cost is usually around $140 per session once the Medicare rebate has been applied.

You may also be able to claim a rebate through your private health fund, depending on your level of cover and the fund’s rules. The rebate amount will vary between policies. Our admin team can help you understand your options and decide whether Medicare, private health, or a combination at different points is likely to be most suitable for you.

Appointments can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly or less often, depending on your needs, goals and budget. For up-to-date information on fees and rebates, please contact Pynk Health directly or visit our fees page.

Seeing a Melbourne Psychologist vs Our Australia-Wide Team

If you live in Melbourne or elsewhere in Victoria, you can choose to:

  • Work with a Melbourne-based psychologist, or
  • See a psychologist from another part of Australia who feels like the best fit for you.

Some women like knowing their psychologist is also based in Melbourne and understands the local lifestyle, workplaces and systems. Others prefer to connect with someone from another city or state. Both choices are completely valid – what matters most is that you feel safe, respected and understood.

Because all of our sessions are held online via secure video or phone, you’re not limited to whoever happens to be close to your postcode. We’ll help you find the clinician whose personality, experience and availability align with what you’re looking for, whether they’re in Melbourne or elsewhere in Australia.
