At Pynk Health, we understand that starting therapy can come with a lot of questions. One of the most common is how much does seeing a psychologist cost?
We’re committed to being transparent about fees so you can make informed decisions. Whether you’re considering counselling for the first time or returning after a break, this page will guide you through everything you need to know about our fees, Medicare rebates, and NDIS or private health options.
Our Psychologist Fees & Costs
For most standard psychology appointments, fees range from $225 to $282 per session. The exact charge depends on the clinician and the type of session.
- Payment is made via credit or debit card, or direct deposit
- If you prefer to pay in installments, we offer Afterpay and Zip Pay
- Sessions can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on your preferences and needs
Please note: Pynk Health does not offer bulk billing.
Medicare Rebates and Mental Health Care Plans
If you have a referral and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP or psychiatrist, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
- Most clients pay an out-of-pocket cost of around $140 per session after the rebate
- Medicare covers up to 10 sessions per calendar year
- Rebates can be processed by our team or claimed by you directly through Medicare
If you’re unsure how to get started with psychological sessions via a referral or care plan, we are happy to walk you through the steps.
Private Health Insurance Options
If you have private health insurance with extras cover, you may be able to claim a rebate for your psychology sessions.
- The amount you can claim and gap fee depends on your provider and level of cover
- Some clients choose to use a combination of private health and Medicare rebates across different sessions
We can help you check your policy before booking, so you know what to expect before booking with one of our psychologists.
ADHD & ASD Assessment Fees
Our ADHD and ASD assessments are completed over 2-3 consultations and involve a range of tests concluding with an explanation of the results and outcome, along with a detailed report.
- ADHD assessment – $2,300
- ASD assessment – $2,000
Payment for assessment fees will be required in full, prior to the first appointment. Unfortunately, there is no Medicare rebate available for these assessments.
Psychology Services Under the NDIS
We welcome NDIS participants and support all types of funding arrangements. Our services are delivered as Capacity Building supports, and fees are set in line with the official NDIS Pricing Arrangements.
We work with:
- Self-managed participants – you pay upfront and claim the cost back through your plan
- Plan-managed participants – your plan manager pays us directly
- Agency-managed participants – the NDIA pays Pynk Health directly
All fees and payment processes are explained clearly before your first session.
Our Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice – Cancellations must be made at least 24 business hours before your appointment. Business hours are Monday to Friday only (excluding weekends and public holidays). Full session fee applies
- Missed appointments (no-shows) – Full session fee applies
Why does the cancellation fee apply?
The session time was reserved solely for you, and at such short notice it cannot be offered to another client.
Missed appointments mean that clients who may urgently require support miss the chance to access care.
Consistency in attendance is a vital part of the therapeutic process and supports long-term progress.
Charging the full session fee for no-shows is industry standard and recommended by the Australian Psychological Society.
These fees are not covered by Medicare or any other third party and are your responsibility.
